Established at the start of 2023, the mission of the public safety section of the Community Development Service is to collaborate with stakeholders to encourage actions leading to the improvement of the safety of Acadian Peninsula residents.
In addition to its mandate, the service undertook an optimization study of the Acadian Peninsula’s fire services. The study was tabled in April 2022. Implementation of the study’s first recommendation, presented by consultant Pierre-Damien Arel, consisted of the creation of the position of a public safety and fire manager whose duties would consist primarily of implementing the study’s recommendations and guiding the various partners through the public safety and emergency measures’ files and issues. This position represents a key step in moving this ambitious project forward.
